What is the downtime and recovery time expected with Dermal Filler?
It is common to experience swelling and bruising following dermal filler procedures. The majority of swelling and bruising resolves within a week, but it can take up to a full two weeks for some bruises to heal. We recommend scheduling your dermal filler procedure at least two weeks from any important events to allow for healing. As dermal filler is an implant complete healing can take 6-8 weeks, but most swelling and bruising will resolve in the first 2 weeks.
What can I do to minimize bruising and swelling associated with Dermal Filler and Medical Injectable procedures?
To minimize bruising and swelling we recommend the following: discontinue any anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, Aleve, aspirin, Motrin, Advil, turmeric, fish oils, Vitamin E, other supplements) 7 days before your injectable procedure, avoid alcohol for 2 days prior to your procedure, avoid caffeine or stimulants for a few hours before your procedure. Additionally, you may use Arnica tablets the evening before and the morning of your procedure to help minimize bruising.
